Borzoi Canada is the national breed club for Borzoi in Canada. A national specialty is held each year, rotating from east to west. Traditionally it has been maintained in the areas of the largest populations of Borzoi and their people, namely Alberta and Ontario.

The Borzoi Canada 2019 National Specialty
will be held at Caledonia, Ontario
in association with the Erie Shore Kennel Club all breed show.

Regular/Non-regular classes Judge: Jeffery Bazell, USA

Jeff Bazell is the 3rd generation dog show enthusiast. His grandfather bred Black and Tan Coonhounds, his grandmother and father were heavily involved in Chow Chows and Jeff finished his first champion, a Pekingese purchased from Nigel Aubrey-Jones, at the age of 9 by winning a specialty. His involvement in Brussels Griffon began at age 12 and continues to the present, with over 1000 titled dogs bred, co-bred or shown by the St John Kennel. During the 1980’s he bred many champion Newfoundlands including putting multiple group and best in show wins on two male Landseers. He a teenager he showed Afghans for Kay Finch in California, owned and showed many Kingsmark Greyhounds and has international experience with many sighthound breeds. He has been judging for over 25 years and has enjoyed judging all over the world along with his husband, Jeff Kestner. The Jeffs also have a new found love in the Lancashire Heeler breed and are actively opening a breeding program to help introduce this wonderful breed to North America.

Jeff is a garden designer, plant breeder and nursery owner and has won over 100 international design awards including the Queen’s Gold Medal for Horticulture. He has been a featured designer at the Floriade in the Netherlands, the Ameriflora in the US and the Royal Horticultural Society Chelsea Flower Show. He has also taught in design schools at the university level and is a former special needs kindergarten teacher.
